What’s in it for you?
Without diverse high-quality content, ZapSplat couldn’t function. It’s our contributors that have been instrumental in ZapSplat becoming the success it is. So of course we do all we can in return and we have a lot to offer!
1. Your Own Landing Page.
Enhancing our catalogue gets you a profile where you can introduce yourself, listing your credits, describing your other products and services and link through to your website or store.
2. Free Ad Space.
Contributors also have the opportunity to host periodic ad campaigns with us. Holding a sale or releasing a new product? If you contribute with us, you can splash news about it all over our search pages, where your ad will appear right in front of thousands of creatives looking for high quality sound effects. If it’s your first time creating an ad, we’ll be more than happy to support you by suggesting tips that have worked well for other users.
3. Free Gold Membership.
Often, creators also need additional assets when working on projects with their clients. Hosting content with us will give you free access to our entire catalogue of over 150,000 sound effects.
4. Promotion on Our Social Media.
We’re always excited to welcome new contributors. Shouting about your content makes sure creatives don’t miss out on it so we’ll promote you via all our channels – Discord, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc as well as featuring you on our blog. Of course, if you’d prefer to introduce yourself and tell your story for an even more personal touch, we would welcome articles from you as well.
5. Access to our affiliate program.
Trusted partners can apply to become affiliates with us and earn commissions on any sign-ups by users they refer. Since you’ll be circulating links to your content among your contacts in any case, it only makes sense for you to have the chance to earn money while you do it.
6. We Won’t Exploit Your Content
We won’t allow your content to be used to train artificial intelligence. At Zapsplat, we strongly believe that your content remains yours and should only be used in ways we can be sure won’t conflict with your interests. With the future role of generative AI in sound design and its impact on professionals still unclear, we are keen to avoid doing anything that might undermine the livelihoods of our community members. All our contributors receive a simple, transparent, “what you see is what you get” contract that will prohibit third parties from using your content to generate their own competing content.
How to Get Started
If you’re interested in joining a vibrant community of other sound designers and field recordists, putting your sound effects centre stage in front of thousands of filmmakers, game developers, podcasters and YouTubers, simply pick a sample of sounds you feel represents your content well that would be most appealing to users and send it along so we can look it over and then have a chat with you. Just a couple of things to bear in mind before you send:
1. Make sure you have full ownership and/or distribution rights to everything that you send. Ambient sounds should, for example, be free from background music, announcements and ring tones that are under copyright.
2. Please be sure to send wav files in the highest quality possible and that the assets you send represent your best work, being free from artefacts and other defects.
3. We prefer content with metadata that adheres to the Universal Category System conventions. It is also very helpful if you are able to provide a data sheet listing the name, category and description of each sound. If you’re having trouble with this step though, we’ll be happy to help.
Once that’s all done, we’ll upload the content for you. It’s as simple as that.
How many sounds should I send?
That’s entirely up to you. Send as much you feel will represent the cross-section of your work. Think of your contributor profile as a sort of demo reel. You might prefer to trickle content in batches as you produce more or so that there are fresh developments to talk about more often. You might want to upload a smattering of individual offerings or to upload themed packs for even greater exposure. You can either create audio demos for these and add artwork or we can do this for you.
We know that there are people producing evocative, innovative content all over the world just looking for a place to break out. We want to help your creations get the attention they deserve. We look forward to partnering with you.
