Yes, to keep the standards that our members expect, we only accept sound effects or music files at a minimum or 44.1kHz and 16bit WAV files. We are also strict on quality, so we ask the following:
- Sounds and music must be recorded on a good quality recorder. iPhone or mobile recordings are not what we are looking for.
- Edit your sounds well. We look for basic editing techniques such as ‘toping-and-tailing’, small fade ins and outs at the beginning and end of each audio file to stop clicks if required, normalising audio files where appropriate, adding meta data to each sound if possible.
- We hate hiss and so do our members. If you’ve recorded a sound and it includes hiss, or excessive noise floor, it will likely be rejected.
We are in the process of adding a front-end contribution system where members can upload sounds directly to the library. Watch this pace for more information.
