We’re all big kids, right? Give me the chance to play with some of the retro toys from my youth and I’ll take it! So that’s exactly what I did one afternoon last week and I set up my microphone and recorded it too.
It seems some toys are timeless and getting out the old lego and Mega Blocks brought some old memories flooding back. But of course, this was all in the name of work.
First up, I recorded various sounds of Mega Blocks, from movements and drops to single pieces being added and removed from a board. I build a small structure and recorded the sound effect of it dropping onto lots of other pieces and more. You can download the free Mega Blocks sound effects here.
Next up I took an old kids puzzle with larger pieces. There are so many variations of movements and actions a single puzzle pack can produce. Pieces being clipped together, dropped, movements, shakes etc. I also recorded the box being opened, closed and set down on surfaces.
Last but not least were my favourite toys from my past, cars. Causing crashes and general mayhem is sadly still slightly enjoyable! I recorded a few toy car passes and crashes which can be downloaded here.
